About

In 2005, resident community leaders from the Northeast End of Wake Forest, North Carolina came together to form the Northeast End Organization and later partnered with the Town of Wake Forest in 2007, to initiate efforts to revitalize and update various infrastructure within the community. In 2012, Northeast End neighborhood residents and Wake Forest community churches; Hope Lutheran Church, Olive Branch Baptist Church,  and Friendship Chapel Baptist Church invited Habitat for Humanity of Wake County to become a Neighborhood Revitalization partner, committed to supporting home preservation, affordable housing and community development. Habitat Neighborhood Revitalization formalized the Northeast Community Coalition (NECC) as a resident led organization that meets monthly, develops resident leaders, and supports resident advocacy. With administrative and leadership support from Habitat, residents expanded the NECC to include Town personnel, the police department, and twenty church and civic organizations. Residents and partners plan events and initiatives using a holistic approach model to continue to enhance the quality of life for Northeast End residents.

The coalition is currently focused on five main priorities; community events & engagement, food security & wellness, programming for families, youth and seniors and sponsorships & fundraising.

"Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop."
